Itinerary

Kharanaq-Chak Chak-Meybod tour is the best option if you’ve already visited the Yazd city attractions and would like to explore more historical sites outside of the city. Discover the highlights of Yazd in a picturesque setting, with thousand of years old stories to tell.

Kharanaq Village

The village of Kharanaq, located 75km northeast Yazd, hosts one of the oldest citadels in Iran. A walk along the labyrinth-like structure of this rustic settlement, with its 4000 years old now deserted houses and narrow alleys, will charm you for sure.

A place of interest for history and nature lovers alike, the eerie atmosphere of the Kharanaq citadel will remind you of a famous movie…

Chak Chak temple

Every year in mid-June, pilgrims from all around the globe gather at the most sacred Zoroastrian mountain shrine in order to worship their god Ahura-Mazda. The spiritual atmosphere surrounding this green oasis in the heart of bare mountains will allow you to meditate as you get closer to the root of the oldest monotheistic religion in the world. And the way up is paved with legends, as the murmuring sound of a mountain spring becomes audible…drip, drip…

Meybod city

This city’s primary attraction is the Narin castle. A fortified oasis with 6000 years old history, it is probably the oldest adobe structure you will get to see in your life!

Other sites worth visiting include an Ice-house, the primitive yet ingenious way desert inhabitants used to collect ice in the past, and also a Caravanserai and a Pigeon House.
The Caravanserai hosts an UNESCO-listed rug workshop, which displays one of the most original samples of Persian art.

Last but definitely not least, the Meybod pottery is a trademark by itself, and you will have the privilege of witnessing the creation process of handicrafts straight from the hands of local pottery masters.
