The culture of the caravanserai is deeply connected to the history of the Persian people. It was in the vast land of Persia that the first caravanserais originated, exactly 999 in number.
With the passing of time, the world that our ancestors witnessed gave way to a new one and the old roads they traveled on slowly fell into oblivion.
The caravanserai got deprived of its meaning as a place of shelter from the tiring journey for the pilgrims, caravans, merchants… And while you can find many of them renovated and reconverted to restaurants and hotels, some of them managed to preserve their authenticity and defy the time.
We are proud to present to you the UNESCO registration of this beautiful and unique caravanserai in the middle of the Yazd desert!
Still in use about 60 years ago, you can still find some elders recollecting their memories of the exciting atmosphere of the place…
It is once again open for the lonely wanderers and the curious travelers alike, whoever wants to visit or stay a night or two, whoever appreciates the Iranian art and culture. And especially, to all of you out there who want to take it easy and find your peace in the middle of the desert.
